Yadupati Singhania, a visionary industrialist, played a pivotal role in the evolution of cement in India. Under his leadership and guidance, JK Cement Ltd. emerged as one of the leading cement manufacturers in India and partnered India’s multi-sectoral infrastructure needs on the strength of its product excellence, customer orientation and technology leadership. With his foresight and understanding of the business environment, Late Mr. Yadupati Singhania could sense the immense potential the cement industry held in the fast growing economy of the country.
He envisioned a world-class plant, a wide range of superior building products and a global presence. But he wanted it without the exploitation of men, resources or environment. So, he did not just build plants but a utopian world around it. The plants established by him stand tall today as a testament to his belief in sustainable growth and co-creating value for the nation by investing in cutting-edge technology, a highly skilled workforce and the environment.
Late Yadupati Singhania ji also laid special emphasis on encouraging talent in the field of Architecture, which has made JK Cement a pioneer in felicitating outstanding contributions of Architects. Architect of the Year Award was instituted in 1990 to inspire the professionals to strive for further raising the bar in architecture standards of the country. AYA since then has lived up to its legacy of awarding excellence every year and helped pave the way for a better tomorrow in design. Mr. Singhania’s aim was to maintain transparency in the entire process and to ensure that only merit is rewarded. The AYA is his brainchild and today it is an internationally acclaimed award.
